Resonant and Ready:
Accessible Strategies for Choir

Introduction

This eBook was developed out of a desire to make choral education more inclusive, responsive, and connected to the real vocal and physical experiences of young singers. As a music educator, I’ve seen firsthand how kinesthetic learning – especially when paired with thoughtful repertoire and resonance-based instruction – can unlock confidence and participation in students of all ability levels.

This collection includes ten carefully designed lesson plans, content (including video tutorials), and public domain choral repertoire, all anchored in accessibility practices. Every lesson integrates kinesthetic tools like hand placement and physical checks for resonance, allowing students to engage with their voices in ways that are tangible, affirming, and easy to adapt. You’ll also find connections to state and national standards, ensuring this resource aligns with your curriculum needs while expanding the reach of your classroom.

While this is meant to be a comprehensive set of resources, it is not something to be followed rigidly or treated as a prescriptive script. Rather, think of it as a reminder of what is possible – a flexible framework that invites experimentation, reflection, and adaptation based on the unique needs of your singers. You know your students best. Take what resonates, adjust what doesn’t, and make this work your own.
